Anxiety is a feeling of unease, like a worry or a fear, that can be mild or severe.

Everyone feels anxious at some points in their Lives and it is generally a perfectly normal reaction to some situations and the feeling of anxiety usually passes once the situation is over.

However, when anxiety becomes a problem, peoples’ worries can be out of proportion with relatively harmless situations. It can feel more intense or overwhelming and interfere with peoples’ everyday Lives and relationships. Anxiety can also cause changes in peoples’ behaviour such as becoming overly careful or avoiding things that trigger anxiety.

Anxiety can manifest itself in numerous ways for example for someone in the midst of a relationship breakdown through to someone worried about delivering their best man’s speech. The important thing to acknowledge and understand is that however trivial or minor the cause of the anxiety appears to an external observer, the anxiety manifests itself as a major and important issue for the person concerned.

I will work with you to first understand what exactly you are anxious about and agree with you what positive outcome(s) you want from working with me using hypnotherapy – please go to Hypnotherapy Session Structure to understand how hypnotherapy works.

I can then explain the relevant techniques that will suit you best and we can agree on the way forward ie to agree:

  • The number of sessions you may need or we can just proceed one session at a time – it is entirely up to you
  • Whether or not some self-hypnosis between sessions and/or after the sessions have ended would be beneficial for you
  • Whether or not some additional work between sessions that you can do yourself would help your progress in dealing with your issue(s)
