Phobias are more pronounced than fears. They develop when a person has an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or an object.
If a phobia becomes very severe, it can cause a person to organise their everyday Life around avoiding the situation or object that is causing them the anxiety. As well as restricting that person’s day-to-day Life, it can also cause a lot of distress for the person themselves and also people they inter-act with.
